Your profile
These are the settings tied to you (your display name, photo, and preferences) plus how you move between the accounts you have access to. Everyone who signs in to the staff app has these, regardless of their access level.
This is separate from Staff users, which is how an admin manages other people’s access.
The user menu
Section titled “The user menu”Your personal settings live in the user menu: your name and photo at the bottom of the sidebar, or your avatar in the top-right corner of the setup wizard and invitation pages. Open it to reach your profile (your name at the top of the menu), menu item: Preferences…, menu item: Switch account (menu item: Go to account on the setup wizard and invitation pages), menu item: Help center, and menu item: Sign out.
Changing your display name
Section titled “Changing your display name”Your display name shows in the user menu and in staff lists.
- From the user menu, select your name at the top to open the dialog: Edit Profile dialog.
- Edit the field: Display name.
- Select button: Save changes.
An empty name is rejected with message: Display name is required., and a name longer than 60 characters with message: Keep it under 60 characters.. button: Save changes stays unavailable until you’ve changed something and the name is valid.
Changing your photo
Section titled “Changing your photo”Your photo shows in the user menu and in the lists of account owners, school admins, and library managers.
- In the dialog: Edit Profile dialog, select button: Upload photo, or drag an image onto the photo area. It takes a JPG, PNG, or WebP image of 2 MB or less.
- Drag the image to reposition it in the square frame and use the slider to zoom, then select button: Apply.
- Select button: Save changes to apply it across the app.
Once you have a photo, the same place offers button: Replace and button: Remove. Either change also waits for button: Save changes.
Turning scan sounds off
Section titled “Turning scan sounds off”Lyra plays a short sound after every scan, whether you’re checking copies in or out, pulling or reshelving holds, weeding, or counting inventory. The sounds are on until you turn them off.
- From the user menu, select menu item: Preferences….
- Turn off setting: Scan sounds.
The change saves as soon as you flip the switch; there is no save button. Close the dialog: Preferences dialog when you’re done.
Preferences belong to you, not to the computer, so they follow you to any device you sign in on. On a shared desk computer, the sounds follow whoever is signed in.
Choosing which email Lyra sends you
Section titled “Choosing which email Lyra sends you”Beyond the notices your library’s work produces, Lyra sends staff two kinds of email. Service notices about your account, such as changes to the terms or Privacy Policy, planned downtime, and security, always arrive, and there is no switch for them. Marketing email is yours to choose.
- From the user menu, select menu item: Preferences….
- Under setting: Email, turn each topic on or off: setting: Product updates, setting: Events, and setting: Other.
Each switch saves as soon as you flip it. setting: Other covers marketing email that is neither a product update nor an event, and it also decides whether you get any new kind of marketing email Lyra adds later.
If your Lyra account was created before the Privacy Policy described marketing email, every topic starts off, and you get no marketing email until you turn one on. The same goes after you unsubscribe from all marketing email through a link in one: every topic reads off here, and turning one back on brings back only that topic.
The setting: Email section appears only for people who staff at least one school, and it isn’t there at all until Lyra starts sending marketing email.
Switching accounts
Section titled “Switching accounts”From the user menu, menu item: Switch account lists every account you belong to, with a check beside the one you’re in; select another to go there. Account owners open that account’s screen: Overview; everyone else goes to the library or school they last worked in there, or to the first library they work in if they haven’t been there yet. On the setup wizard and invitation pages, which sit outside any account, the same item reads menu item: Go to account and nothing is checked.
At the bottom of that list, menu item: New account starts the setup wizard for a brand-new account. See Onboarding.
