A plain look at how Lyra compares with the legacy systems schools switch from: what we do differently, what we leave out on purpose, and who we're honestly not the right fit for.
A side-by-side look, without the scare tactics.
The same questions a librarian actually asks when evaluating a system. Where Lyra does something differently, we say so plainly, and where the legacy systems already cover the basics, we say that too.
Comparison reflects publicly available information about Follett Destiny and Atriuum as of June 2026, and about Accessit as of July 2026, gathered for evaluation.

What Lyra doesn't do.
A short, honest list. If one of these is central to how your library runs, we'd rather tell you up front than win you over and let you down.
No digital lending
Lyra doesn't lend ebooks or audiobooks. It manages the physical and equipment collection on your shelves.
No fines, ILL, or purchasing
Fines, interlibrary loan, and acquisitions/purchasing are out of scope on purpose. We'd rather do less, well.
No app to install
There's no separate mobile app to manage. Lyra runs in the browser on any device: laptop, Chromebook, tablet, or phone.
We're new, and looking for founding-partner schools.
Lyra was founded in 2025 and launched in 2026. That's early, and we won't pretend otherwise.
- Shape the product. Your shelves and workflows directly inform what we build next.
- Founding pricing. Half off for your first 2- or 3-year term.
- Work with the founders. You talk to the people building Lyra, not a ticket queue.
